The WRC directed EMI Restaurants Limited, in Liquidation to pay Seyda Tekin a further €1,000 after finding her complaint about unpaid wages and related entitlements well founded. Adjudication Officer Catherine Byrne dated the decision 23 June 2021. Tekin worked as a waitress at the company’s central Dublin restaurant from September 2019 to March 2020. The WRC found she was owed €2,080.95 in wages, holiday pay, public holiday pay, a Sunday allowance and pay in lieu of notice. Neither the respondent nor the liquidator attended the hearing. Tekin said she received €900 from the liquidator the day before it. The adjudicator questioned why the payment had arrived only on the eve of the hearing and directed the company to pay a further €1,000 in net compensation.
