WRC rejects Svetlana Grodzicka’s discrimination and maternity complaints

The Workplace Relations Commission found Svetlana Grodzicka’s discrimination complaint was not well founded and her maternity complaint did not succeed, finding that she had resigned and was not dismissed. The WRC decision was dated 11 July 2022. Grodzicka said she was dismissed while on maternity leave and intended to return to work. Astra Leisure and Ultra Fresh Services Limited said she had resigned before starting leave. The officer found she resigned after difficulties arranging shifts around her music teaching job. A separate minimum notice complaint was out of time and statute-barred; a duplicate notice complaint was dismissed as a duplicate.
