WRC finds it had no jurisdiction over John Tierney’s unfair-dismissal complaint

The Workplace Relations Commission found it had no jurisdiction to hear John (Orse Sean) Tierney’s unfair-dismissal complaint against Babcock Mission Critical Services (Ireland) Limited, in a decision dated 28 April 2022. The merits were not decided. Tierney said he had been forced out of his Flight Operations Manager role in July 2020. The adjudication officer found there was one employment contract, which continued after that role and its allowance ended, until Tierney’s redundancy in August 2021. As the contract had not ended in July 2020, the complaint was not properly before the WRC.
