WRC orders European Water Technology to pay Valentine Onukwili €200 and four days’ public holiday pay

The Workplace Relations Commission found one complaint by Valentine Onukwili well founded and one not well founded in a decision dated 29 September 2021. It directed European Water Technology to pay him four days’ public holiday pay and €200 compensation. Onukwili’s Payment of Wages complaint failed after the adjudication officer found that the late payment of his final week’s wages and outstanding annual leave discharged the employer’s obligations. His public holiday complaint succeeded: the officer found the four holidays fell within the first 13 weeks of a period analogous to temporary lay-off.
