The Workplace Relations Commission found that Matrix Recruitment Group did not discriminate against Suzanne Dunne after her parental leave in a decision dated 4 November 2022. Dunne said she was placed on layoff after taking parental leave and offered a different role when she sought to return. The company said the layoff and role change arose from pandemic disruption and restructuring. The adjudication officer found the offered role was equivalent though different, and that the company had given a reasonable explanation for the change. The officer also found that the respondent had rebutted the inference of discrimination. Dunne’s complaint about a Christmas voucher paid several weeks late was also rejected; the officer said the delay did not amount to discrimination.
