WRC finds security officer’s dismissal was fair

The Workplace Relations Commission found that Oghenenyerhovwo Ogbodu was not unfairly dismissed by Ocs One Complete Solution Ltd. The decision was dated 19 July 2021. Ogbodu, a security officer, said he acted in self-defence during a confrontation with customers at a client’s store. The company said he breached his security training by following a customer outside, taking car keys and becoming involved in a further altercation. The adjudicator found the dismissal was within the range of reasonable responses and that the investigation, disciplinary hearing and appeal followed fair procedures.
