The Workplace Relations Commission found Connie Gerety’s penalisation complaint against North Leinster Citizens Information Service was not well founded, deciding it had not been shown that she suffered significant detriment because she made a bullying complaint. The decision was dated 28 July 2022. Gerety, a long-serving manager, said a sustained campaign to remove her from her post followed her complaint against her line manager and the board chair. The employer denied running a campaign to undermine her and said it had exercised management functions amid workplace difficulties. The WRC found no causal link between her grievance and the alleged detriments. It said the investigations did not clearly show malice and that the employer had checks and balances, including reversing a verbal warning on appeal. It also described a small organisation consumed by internal conflict.
