The Workplace Relations Commission found an Equal Status complaint against the Public Health Organisation was not well founded after the complainant failed to meet statutory notification requirements. The decision was dated 14 June 2022; the merits of his gender discrimination allegation were not decided. He alleged that a social worker made disparaging comments during an interview that she would not have made to someone of a different gender. The complainant said a letter sent on 1 March 2020 met the notification rules. The adjudication officer found it did not describe the nature of the later discrimination allegation or say he intended to seek redress under the Act. The officer refused an extension, finding no reasonable cause, although the complainant’s 7 May letter fell within the possible extended period.
