WRC rejects Circle K manager’s unfair dismissal claim

The WRC found Shahzad Anwar’s unfair dismissal complaint against Circle K (Ard Services Ltd) was not well founded. Three working-time complaints were outside the Commission’s jurisdiction; the merits were not decided. Anwar said he had arranged cover for night shifts while caring for his son and paid the substitute workers himself. Circle K said he claimed pay for hours he had not worked and falsified records. The adjudication officer found he claimed payment for 150 hours while working about 100, and that substantial grounds justified his dismissal.
