The Workplace Relations Commission found Lukasz Cegielski’s unfair dismissal complaint was not well founded. The decision, dated 28 July 2022, concerned his selection for redundancy from Viagogo’s special operations team in Limerick. Cegielski argued that the scoring matrix used to select him was unfair and designed to dismiss him. The company said the redundancy followed a sharp downturn in ticket sales during the Covid-19 pandemic and that it applied agreed criteria across its workforce. The WRC found the criteria were not inherently subjective and had been applied transparently across the workforce. It did not find that the matrix targeted Cegielski or was applied unfairly. He had been offered an appeal but did not use it.
