The Workplace Relations Commission dismissed Olumide Smith’s Equal Status complaint against Ennis & Associates Solicitors as frivolous or vexatious. The decision, dated 13 July 2022, concerned allegations of race discrimination and harassment.
Smith’s complaint arose from a Circuit Court personal-injury hearing where the firm represented the insurer of the opposing party. He alleged an expert witness exaggerated a car-repair estimate and that the firm was involved in presenting false information. The firm did not respond to the complaint.
The adjudicator found the firm was not offering Smith a service at the hearing because it represented the other side. The decision also said Smith had provided no evidence of discrimination. It concluded that the claim could not succeed under the Equal Status Act and dismissed it under section 22.
