WRC awards Alen Brajkovic €144 for unpaid public holiday

The WRC directed JJC Contracting Limited to pay Alen Brajkovic €144 for an unpaid public holiday, after finding he had received his wages for the hours he worked in early February 2020. WRC Adjudication Officer Catherine Byrne’s decision, dated 25 June 2021, found Brajkovic was entitled to pay for the St Patrick’s Day public holiday because he had worked for the company in the preceding four weeks. He had been employed as a dry-wall installer from 28 January to 13 March 2020 and was paid €18 an hour. Brajkovic withdrew a separate complaint because it duplicated the complaint about wages and holiday pay.
