The WRC found a worker entitled to a redundancy payment after his employer entered liquidation, while rejecting his insolvency-scheme and minimum-notice complaints, in a decision dated 5 May 2022. The entitlement is based on employment from 11 April 1991 to 22 October 2019 and gross weekly pay of €686, subject to the worker having been in insurable employment. The worker had been on long-term sick leave and said he believed his job remained available. The joint liquidators said a former director could not recall whether his employment had formally ended. The adjudication officer found he had neither resigned nor been dismissed before the company went into liquidation.
