WRC allows Marcel Miklos’s redundancy appeal

The Workplace Relations Commission allowed Marcel Miklos’s redundancy appeal against Mhl Facilities Services Ltd, awarding him a statutory redundancy lump sum. The decision, dated 27 July 2021, set the calculation using a start date of 12 April 2011, an end date of 3 February 2020 and gross weekly pay of €645.71, subject to insurable employment. Miklos had been laid off after work at a site ended. The WRC found the employer had not clearly assured him that further work would avoid another lay-off or short-time, and that the appeal succeeded.
