Martin Finan wins redundancy appeal and €419.90 notice pay

Martin Finan won his statutory redundancy appeal and was awarded €419.90 in notice pay by the Workplace Relations Commission in a decision dated 27 May 2021. Finan said C and L Plex Ltd. stopped trading without paying his redundancy entitlement or the balance of his notice pay. The company did not attend the hearing. The adjudication officer accepted Finan’s evidence that the business had ceased and that he had more than two years of insurable employment, so allowed the appeal. Finan had received one week’s paid notice but was entitled to two weeks; the company was directed to pay the €419.90 balance.
