The WRC recommended that an employer pay a worker €12,000 after an independent investigation found that a colleague had touched her inappropriately at a retirement party. Adjudication Officer Conor Stokes made the recommendation under the Industrial Relations Act 1969 in a decision dated 15 June 2022.

The worker said the disciplinary response was inadequate and she was expected to remain in the same workplace as the colleague. The employer said the process led to a written apology and that it offered mediation and a move, which the worker declined. The WRC also recommended that she engage in mediation and that the employer clarify the roles of its investigation and disciplinary hearings.
