The Workplace Relations Commission ordered Carxie Restaurants Limited to pay chef Tomislav Matanovic €1,040 for failing to provide written terms of employment, in a decision dated 5 August 2021. It also upheld four other complaints and ordered payments for unpaid Sunday premiums, wages, public holiday pay and minimum notice. Matanovic said he worked 16 Sundays without extra pay, was owed wages for 65 hours and received no pay for four public holidays. He also said the restaurant did not provide written terms and ended his employment without the required notice. Carxie Restaurants Limited did not attend the hearing or make submissions. The WRC ordered €499 for Sunday premiums, €728 net for unlawfully deducted wages, and €416 for public holiday losses plus €520 compensation. It awarded €1,040 for the missing written terms and €520 for minimum notice. The Sunday premium was calculated at time-and-one-third for each Sunday hour.
