The Workplace Relations Commission rejected Ioana Ramona Retean’s complaint against CCS Cleaning Services over a change to her working hours. Adjudication Officer Catherine Byrne dated the decision 18 October 2021. Retean said a change to a Dublin store’s opening time stopped her starting at 5.30am, leaving her unable to work three hours each week. She complained that the change was not notified to her in writing. CCS Cleaning Services said the early start was an informal arrangement and offered later hours, which Retean could not work. The company paid her nine hours’ pay as a goodwill gesture. Byrne found the early-start arrangement was informal and its ending did not change Retean’s contractual terms in a way that required an amendment to her contract. The complaint was not well founded.
