The WRC found it had no jurisdiction to hear Shauna Cox’s complaint that Toytown Toys Limited t/a Toymaster dismissed her because she was pregnant. The decision was dated 18 May 2022; the merits were not decided.
The Commission found the complaint was lodged outside the six-month time limit and declined to extend it. Cox’s employment ended on 26 June 2019, and she referred her complaint on 9 January 2020. The respondent said it dismissed her for breach of trust after learning she had stopped attending a course while continuing to seek Saturdays off.
