WRC finds John Arkins’ dismissal and fixed-term complaints were out of time

The WRC found John Arkins’ unfair dismissal complaint and complaint under the Protection of Employees (Fixed-Term Work) Act were brought outside the time limits. The decision was dated 8 April 2022. The adjudication officer found the dismissal occurred when Arkins was not rehired for Vikings 6 in September 2018. Metropolitan Film Productions Limited argued that Arkins was employed by production companies set up for individual projects and that his complaints were late. The WRC had no jurisdiction to examine either complaint, so their merits were not decided.
