WRC rejects Emilie Coudret’s discrimination complaint against Carriganog Racing

The Workplace Relations Commission found Emilie Coudret’s complaint against Carriganog Racing Limited not well founded, finding that the evidence did not establish discrimination. The decision was dated 25 March 2022. Coudret, a groom and rider, alleged discrimination on gender, conditions of employment and other grounds, including discriminatory dismissal. She said she was treated as dismissed after being asked to leave the stables during pregnancy and that payroll problems disrupted her maternity payments. The company said she had been placed on health and safety leave and had not been dismissed. The officer found the payroll error and missed email were serious, but did not establish discrimination. The evidence showed Coudret’s employment continued until she resigned in January 2020, so no dismissal occurred.
