WRC dismisses construction worker’s complaint after he misses hearing

The WRC found that a construction worker’s complaint failed after he did not attend the hearing. In a decision dated 24 September 2019, adjudication officer Emile Daly said the worker had received notice and had not sought an adjournment or given a valid reason for his absence; the merits were not decided. The complaint concerned his allegation that he was dismissed after refusing weekend work that had not been agreed in advance, which he said conflicted with his domestic commitments.
