WRC rejects unfair dismissal and discrimination complaints against ISS

The WRC found that Otilia Ramona Lascarache was not unfairly dismissed by Iss Ireland Limited Iss Facility Services and was not discriminated against. The decision was dated 2 September 2021. The complaints followed Lascarache’s advice to a colleague to reuse a hose and replace its label for a sterile cleaning procedure. She said a site trainer had advised that the hose could be reused and that the cleaning did not proceed. The company said the procedure required sterile tubes to be changed every 24 hours to avoid contamination. The WRC found the investigation and disciplinary and appeal processes fair. It said the advice could have compromised the cleaning process and the client’s manufacturing operations, and found the dismissal was a reasonable response. Both complaints were unsuccessful.
