The Workplace Relations Commission found Jennifer Waters’ discrimination complaint against Matheson was not well founded. The decision was dated 16 July 2019. Waters alleged that Matheson discriminated against her on gender, age and civil status grounds when she applied for a trainee solicitor job and was not invited to interview. She said she believed a male applicant with her qualifications would have been hired. The adjudication officer found that Waters did not know who had been hired or their relevant characteristics, and had based her claims on assumptions. The complaint failed because she had not established facts to support an inference of discrimination.
