The Workplace Relations Commission found that a beauty therapist was entitled to a statutory redundancy payment and six weeks’ minimum notice after the salon where she worked closed without warning. It also awarded her €500 for not receiving written employment terms. The decision was dated 30 April 2019. The worker said she had worked for the salon for 12 years, received no notice and was not paid redundancy when it closed. The respondent did not attend. The WRC found her redundancy entitlement was based on service from June 2006 to July 2018 and gross weekly pay of €230. It also found she was due six weeks’ notice at that rate and had not been given written terms of employment.
