The WRC dismissed a cleaner’s industrial relations complaint after she declined to take part in her employer’s workplace procedures; the merits were not decided. A duplicate complaint was withdrawn at the hearing. The decision was dated 23 January 2018. The cleaner said she was dismissed without prior warnings after returning from leave. The contract cleaning company said it invited her to investigation meetings about a workplace incident, but she did not attend and continued to refuse. The adjudication officer said workplace procedures had to be exhausted before the complaint could proceed.
