The Workplace Relations Commission decided on 31 January 2018 that a hotel employee was entitled to a redundancy payment based on reckonable service from 1 June 2012 to 8 March 2017. The employee said she had been on sick leave from October 2014 and continued providing medical certificates. When she went to discuss a possible return to work, she discovered she was no longer in the system and was given a P45 dated 14 June 2015. The WRC found she had a contract with the first respondent, but no evidence showed her employment transferred to the second. It also found the business later changed hands and that the fourth respondent traded as the third.
