The Workplace Relations Commission awarded a Retail Assistant €1,146.39 in compensation for three weeks of unpaid notice after her shop closed. In a decision dated 28 June 2018, the WRC also upheld her redundancy complaint and ordered a lump sum payment based on her employment dates and gross weekly pay of €388.13. The assistant said she received one week’s notice before the shop closed and did not receive redundancy or notice pay. The Food Retailer did not attend the hearing. The adjudicator found she was entitled to four weeks’ notice after more than five years’ service, leaving three weeks unpaid.
