Workplace Relations Commission ·

The Workplace Relations Commission ordered a Plastering and construction company to pay a Plasterer €1,380 in unpaid wages. The decision, dated 17 May 2018, also awarded €158.40 in holiday pay, €180 for a public holiday and €250 in compensation. The Plasterer said the company treated him as self-employed and withheld wages over a dispute about his work. The company did not attend the hearing. The WRC found he was an employee, noting that the company set his hours and rate, supplied materials and equipment, and directed his work. It upheld the wage and holiday complaints. The terms-of-employment complaint was withdrawn.
