A florist was entitled to a statutory redundancy lump sum after her employer’s business closed, the Workplace Relations Commission found. The decision, dated 5 June 2018, said the entitlement was based on her continuous and reckonable service and was subject to current social welfare requirements relating to PRSI contributions. The employer conceded that her employment ended by reason of redundancy and that the payment had not been made. The WRC found she had worked continuously from 16 June 2014 until the business closed on 19 September 2016.
