The WRC awarded an employee €2,992.50 after finding a hotel had failed to preserve her previous working hours following a change of ownership. In a decision dated 27 March 2018, it found the employee was entitled to her earlier terms and hours through June 2016, and awarded the sum for a wages shortfall from June to October. The employee said her hours fell after the hotel changed hands. The hotel said changes to its food service reduced restaurant work and that it offered her reasonable alternative work in accommodation. The WRC dismissed her redundancy complaint, finding there was no redundancy situation, and dismissed her constructive dismissal complaint because she had no basis to say she had no option but to resign.
