A bartender is entitled to a statutory redundancy payment after a bar and restaurant closed, the WRC found in a decision dated 16 November 2017. He went to work on 5 February 2017 and found the premises shut, with stock removed. The respondent did not attend the hearing. The adjudication officer found that the business had ceased operating where the bartender worked and that his dismissal was by reason of redundancy. The entitlement is subject to his having been in insurable employment during the relevant period.
