The Workplace Relations Commission ordered a haulage company to pay an HGV driver €500 compensation for failing to give him one week’s minimum notice. Adjudication Officer James Kelly dated the decision 20 November 2017. The driver said he was dismissed after just under two years’ service. The company did not attend the hearing. The officer accepted the driver’s evidence that he was one week short of two years’ service and found that he had been denied the statutory notice period. His complaint was well founded.
