WRC finds domestic assistant was harshly treated after raising laundry concerns

By Rory Hanlon

Workplace Relations Commission ·

The WRC said a domestic assistant was harshly treated when a nursing home dismissed her after she raised concerns about a backlog in client laundry. Adjudication Officer Peter O’Brien dated the recommendation 10 May 2018. The officer said other staff statements had been given greater weight than hers because of her shorter service, which he said was not a sound basis for establishing the facts. He recommended no further action because the assistant had found suitable work.
