The WRC awarded a kitchen assistant €1,745 gross after finding that a private nursing home unfairly dismissed her by stopping her shifts without following a standard disciplinary process. The decision was dated 9 March 2018. The assistant said she was taken off the roster after an absence and later resigned to obtain a P45 so she could look for another job. The employer did not attend the hearing. The adjudicator found that her employment ended when she was no longer rostered and that the employer had not followed the warning process or given her an opportunity to improve her attendance. The award covered lost earnings from 18 September to 10 December 2016.
