The WRC dismissed a security manager’s unfair-dismissal claim, finding that the investigation and dismissal process was fair and reasonable. Adjudication Officer Michael McEntee dated the decision 8 March 2018. The manager worked for a contract logistics and security company and oversaw security at a supermarket in the Kildare area. After security incidents there, the company investigated and dismissed him for bringing it into disrepute and breaching trust. He argued that the dismissal had been prejudged and that the allegations were not adequately substantiated. The company said it followed fair procedures and that the security role required a high level of trust. The WRC found that the investigation, disciplinary hearing and appeal were fair. It also found the dismissal was within the range of reasonable responses for the industry, and dismissed the claim.
