The Workplace Relations Commission found that a hotel did not breach wage deduction rules when it deducted agreed uniform costs from a worker’s pay. The decision was dated 14 September 2017. A second complaint was withdrawn. The worker had agreed to a weekly €3 deduction and later asked for it to rise to €30 because he expected to leave and wanted to avoid a large deduction from his final pay. The adjudicator found that the deductions were made under the employment contract and with the worker’s express consent.
