WRC dismisses unfair-dismissal case after neither side attends hearing

Workplace Relations Commission ·

The WRC dismissed an employee’s unfair-dismissal case for want of prosecution after neither side attended the hearing. Adjudication officer Emile Daly issued the decision dated 24 April 2018. The case concerned the employee’s dismissal after the employer treated her taking a bag from the office as theft. She said it was a mistake and that she returned the bag two days later. The WRC said both parties had notice of the hearing and dismissed the case because no one appeared; the merits were not decided.
