WRC recommends €750 for worker after foreman role dispute

The WRC recommended that a healthcare provider pay a worker €750 for distress after he was not selected for temporary or permanent foreman roles. The recommendation was dated 8 December 2017. The worker, a carpenter with more than 40 years’ service, said he had covered the foreman’s duties. The adjudication officer found that an electrical qualification was necessary for both roles and the worker did not have one. The officer also said the employer should have acknowledged his previous cover work and resolved his grievance more quickly.
