WRC dismisses race discrimination complaint against itself on jurisdiction grounds

The Workplace Relations Commission dismissed Roberto Alamazani’s Equal Status complaint against the commission, finding it had no jurisdiction to investigate it. The decision was dated 17 September 2021. Alamazani alleged racial discrimination over an earlier adjudicator’s decision. The WRC said adjudication is not a service covered by the Equal Status Act and that concerns about the process could be raised through judicial review. The merits of the discrimination allegation were not decided.
