Workplace Relations Commission ·

A bowling machine mechanic won statutory redundancy and €4,569.62 net compensation for unpaid wages after his employer’s business closed without notice. The WRC dated its decision 10 October 2017. The mechanic said he worked for the employer from August 2010 to December 2016 and was paid €484.88 gross per week. He said the employer did not respond to his attempts to secure redundancy pay, outstanding wages or minimum notice. The WRC found the redundancy complaint well founded and confirmed the mechanic’s entitlement based on his service and gross weekly pay of €485.88. It also found the wages complaint well founded and ordered €4,569.62 net compensation.
