The WRC awarded Ms Christina Malone €1,420.65 in statutory redundancy and minimum notice payments. The decision was dated 8 April 2016. Ms Malone said she had asked her former employer for her redundancy lump sum but received no reply. Noel Carew, trading as Carew Catering, said the business had closed because of a lack of trade and he had no funds to pay redundancy. The WRC found Ms Malone was in insurable employment on 26 October 2013 and entitled to the lump sum and two weeks’ minimum notice.
