The WRC upheld a receptionist's redundancy claim after finding her employment ended when the respondent GP retired. Adjudication Officer Louise Boyle dated the decision 27 September 2017. The complainant had worked as a receptionist since 30 September 1996. The GP argued that a transfer of undertakings applied because the receptionist started with another GP the day after the practice changed hands. The officer found that the employment ended on 28 February 2017 and that TUPE did not apply. The complainant was awarded a redundancy lump sum based on gross weekly pay of €600, subject to her having been in insurable employment.
