The Workplace Relations Commission found that a security officer’s dismissal was not unfair. The decision was dated 2 February 2018. The officer had been absent on certified sick leave since 2012 and said he wanted to return in a limited capacity. The facilities management company said it could not find suitable work near where he lived that met occupational health recommendations. The officer had appealed his dismissal internally, and the company upheld it. The adjudicator accepted that the company had made every effort to find suitable alternative work in the area where the officer lived and that the dismissal was not unfair.
