WRC dismisses worker’s redundancy and working-hours complaints

By Eimear Byrne

Workplace Relations Commission ·

The WRC dismissed a worker’s redundancy and working-hours complaints against a company in a decision dated 18 January 2018. The adjudication officer found that the worker resigned and that the position was not made redundant. The WRC found the working-hours complaint was brought outside the time limit and was not well founded; the merits were not decided. The redundancy complaint failed because the worker resigned and could not rely on an unsuccessful payment-of-wages claim to establish entitlement to redundancy.
