The WRC recommended that a hospice pay a manager €2,000 after finding its handling of an investigation and grievance caused her unnecessary stress and anxiety. Adjudication Officer John Tierney dated the decision 21 September 2017. The manager said the hospice's actions amounted to constructive dismissal. The hospice said a meeting was intended to address a confidentiality breach, not to discipline her, and that she could return from her career break. The officer found that constructive dismissal had not taken place because the manager had not resigned. He recommended compensation under the Industrial Relations Act, 1969, citing the hospice's failure to reassure her and the lack of respect shown in its dealings with her.
