The Workplace Relations Commission found a warehouse selector’s dismissal fair after he took sweets from a crate at work on three occasions. Adjudication Officer Patsy Doyle dated the decision 20 March 2018. The worker said he believed the sweets were for staff, based on earlier distributions of surplus stock. The large food retail store said he had taken company property without permission, contrary to its zero-tolerance policy. The WRC found he had a fair opportunity to respond, knew the policy and had not appealed his dismissal.
