WRC recommends pause in community employment scheme investigation

By Fionn Kelly

Workplace Relations Commission ·

The Workplace Relations Commission recommended that a community employment scheme pause an investigation into a supervisor and agree its terms of reference and an end date with her and her representative. The recommendation, dated 22 November 2017, said the process should finish within two months. The supervisor said the scheme had mishandled a colleague’s complaint about room allocation, bypassed its procedures and denied her chosen union representative a role in the investigation. The scheme did not attend the hearing and said it would not accept the WRC’s jurisdiction or recommendation. The adjudication officer noted that the investigator had been appointed without union input, but said she had no reason to doubt the investigator’s fairness.
