The Workplace Relations Commission recommended that a production operator’s final written warning remain active for one year, reducing the three-year period set after his appeal. The recommendation was dated 31 January 2018. The employer said the worker had disclosed confidential information to a journalist during sensitive workplace negotiations. The worker challenged the disciplinary process and said the warning exceeded the company’s policy. The adjudicator found the warning followed direct quotes attributed to the worker, but recommended that it remain on his file for only one year from the date it was issued.
