The WRC found a general operative entitled to a statutory redundancy lump sum based on his service from 2 February 2012 to 21 March 2016 and weekly gross pay of €599.92. The decision was dated 23 August 2017.
He said the managing director told him in March 2016 that staff were being let go and that he received no notice pay. The respondent did not attend the hearing. The WRC accepted his uncontroverted account and found he was dismissed by reason of redundancy, subject to insurable employment.
